Cancellation guide
How to cancel iCloud+
Cancel iCloud+ through the biller-specific route below. Save the final end date or written confirmation before you leave.
Step by step
- Settings
- user's name
- Subscriptions
- iCloud+
- Cancel Subscription. To downgrade, choose See All Plans and select a smaller plan.
What happens after cancellation
The change takes effect after the current billing period. If stored data exceeds the new quota, iCloud stops syncing/updating and backups stop until usage is reduced or storage is increased.
How to know it worked
A tick appears beside the new plan and the account shows the future plan/end state.
Before you cancel: pay less
Documented option
Downgrade to the smallest tier that fits current storage.
Reduce or copy data first; over-quota syncing and backups stop after the downgrade takes effect.
What they don't tell you
- Copy or remove content before downgrading. Canceling a separately paid iCloud+ plan may be appropriate when Apple One already includes enough storage; verify both first.
If you subscribed through Apple
iCloud+ cannot cancel a subscription that Apple bills. On your iPhone open
Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose iCloud+ and cancel there.
Check the receipt: if it came from Apple, that is your route.
Check the biller first
Apple only; may overlap with storage included in Apple One. If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, PayPal, a carrier, or another partner appears on the receipt, cancel with that provider instead of using the merchant's direct route.
